Sharmila Sharma belongs to a family of artists. Her first stage experience,at the early age of only three.This debut performance captivated the hearts of the audience an she won the first prize After initial training in folk dances, as well as in kathak from her mother Tara Sharma ji. Sharmila’s talent blossomed under the tutelage of Pandit Rajendra Kumar Gangani ji and under the guidance of renowned Pandit Birju Maharaj ji She became a professional dancer at the age of fourteen, and has since been performing in India and in festivals at an international level.
She conducts workshops and gives Kathak recitals on a regular basis. A tireless and passionate artist, she performs, flitting between Europe and India, where connoisseurs and general audiences alike appreciate her Art. As an ambassador of this classical art form which is technically rigorous with a lot of virtuosity blended with aestheticism, Sharmila pursues relentlessly her quest to find new ways of developing and nurturing her creativity which delicately sublime beauty, intelligence and sensitivity. Performed in 30 countries.
